Architect John Newman is a Principal of Lindsay Newman Architecture and Design. Son of noted architect Sanford L. Newman, Mr. Newman was born and raised in Austin, Texas. He received his degree in Architecture at the University of Texas, Austin in 1986. During college, he acquired a year of training at the office of Frank Gehry in Los Angeles. He began his professional career over twenty years ago and spent the first seven years at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill in New York where he met his wife, Interior Designer Cat Lindsay.

In 1995, John founded his own practice in New York, JS Newman Architects, in order to pursue his diverse aesthetic interests, independent of the stylistic pressures of the signature design firms of the time. In 2002, Ms. Lindsay joined John to form Lindsay Newman Architecture and Design.

Lindsay and Newman combine their talents and experience to lead projects from conceptual development through all phases of the design and construction process. Together, they designed the Eagle Hill Classroom Building in Greenwich, CT, the residence of NHL Hall of Fame star Pat LaFontaine, a private art gallery in New York City, as well as two lobbies at Columbus Circle in New York City. The dynamic team designed the temporary clubhouse and permanent Snack Shop at the exclusive Liberty National Golf Course in New Jersey in 2006. They led their team to design and build Liberty National’s permanent clubhouse which opened in November 2008. The current projects include thirty six villas on the waterfront as well as a three story sales office building adjacent the clubhouse.

As one of the principals of Lindsay Newman Architecture and Design, John produces customized spaces that serve the inhabitants and the general public, and stand the test of time. His designs are of the highest quality and uniquely fit each client.
